Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery 4.1 Breaks Bitcoin Wallet Passwords

Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery 4.1 adds 7zip support and introduces the ability to attack passwords protecting Bitcoin Core and compatible wallets. It also replaces SPIR support with OpenCL on AMD and Intel GPUs, and supports the latest NVIDIA boards based on the Turing architecture.

Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery 4.1 is updated to deliver a number of changes and improvements.

A major addition to EDPR 4.1 is the ability to attack passwords protecting Bitcoin wallets such as Bitcoin Core, Classic, XT and Unlimited. The ability to attack Bitcoin wallet passwords will allow crypto currency aficionados who’ve lost access to their Bitcoin wallets to utilize their existing mining infrastructure for unlocking the wallet.

We’ve added support for the new NVIDIA Turing architecture, enabling the use of the latest and fastest GPU accelerators. For those computers that are equipped with a dedicated video card powered by the latest NVIDIA cards, Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery 4.1 offers full support for the last generation of video cards based on the Turing architecture. This includes GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, RTX 2070, Quadro RTX 8000, Quadro RTX 6000, Quadro RTX 5000, and Tesla T4 boards.

For AMD, we’re done with SPIR due to seemingly lack of interest from AMD in developing the architecture. Instead, we’ve developed a new engine to employ OpenCL on all AMD boards and select Intel graphic units.

We’ve also included support for a number of new formats and updated versions of existing types of data. A handful of bug fixes will improve usage experience on larger task lists and dictionaries.
